Fly fishing in Devon and Somerset with qualified fly fishing instructor and coach Nigel Nesbitt

The beginners and improvers coaching sessions are for a maximum of three people or for small groups of family or friends and usually take place over a full day (7-8 hours) although shorter sessions (half day 3-4 hours) can easily be arranged depending on your time scale.

Evening sessions can also be arranged during the summer months. The fly fishing sessions are arranged to be enjoyable and the client will develop their skills at their own pace, there is no set syllabus for the sessions.

I have access to some top class water in Devon and Somerset from rivers such as the Culm, Yeo, Creedy, Little Dart, Taw and the River Teign to larger still waters and reservoirs.

Your days tuition will include, depending on ability:

Access to top class water.
A brief introduction to fly fishing and safety.
An introduction to fly fishing tackle.
Tackle set up and knots.
Casting and control.
Fly fishing methods and fly selection.
Watercraft and fish location.
Playing, landing and unhooking a fish.
Insect identification.

As much time as possible during the day will be spent fishing with continuous instruction.

The client will usually be able cast adequately after a days tuition and to have acquired the basics of fly fishing to enjoy fishing by themselves with practice.
